Week 1
Assignment per group (4-5 students)
Formulate 2-3 research questions of spatial analysis based on Energy infrastructure data (The OSM / OpenInfra data can be found in in the QGGIS Resources section above)
Apply at least one of the three different analysis methods for each research question (see videos below). The questions should be related to your design studio project.
For each study:
define a scale (area), i.e. city, city-region, whole NL (n.b.: you can work through scales).
select different energy production types, or networks, fossil or renewable (solar, wind, gas etc) based on different attributes (output, capacity, etc)
select an analysis method (1 Heatmap/Clustering, 2 Density/Hexmap or 3 Network analysis
define legend and symbology
Questions to be answered:
Which energy data and scale/area did you select. Why? Explain.
The outcome for each study is a map with a legend. What are the conclusions from the research? How did you visualize the results?
For each study reflect on the applied method, which setting did you experiment with, how did it influence the outcomes?
What did you gain for your design project from this analysis?
How to deliver?
A MIRO board will be prepared to deliver the questions and draft maps for the workshop and the final results.
On Monday February 24 by 8:45: Upload on Miro input in support of the feedback session on Monday February 24 morning, including formulated questions you will be investigating through the maps, list of data you expect to use, and if possible a first round of draft maps, plus any questions related to the production process.
On Thursday March 13 by 18:00: Upload on Miro the final material.
